Late in the first quarter of 2012, when the United MileagePlus® and Continental OnePass® technology systems are converted to a single system, OnePass members will be automatically enrolled in MileagePlus and their OnePass account numbers will become their MileagePlus account numbers. We will replace OnePass reward miles with an equivalent grant of MileagePlus award miles. We will also replace OnePass Elite Qualification Miles and Elite Qualification Points with an equivalent grant of MileagePlus Premier® qualifying miles and Premier qualifying segments. We will do the same with unused Regional Upgrades and Systemwide Upgrades.
If you have a OnePass account, we encourage you to link your two accounts to ensure a smooth transition.
If you don’t have a OnePass account, you don’t have to do anything. We’ll assign you a new eight-character alphanumeric MileagePlus account number toward the end of the first quarter. Your current MileagePlus account number will be recognized for a short time after system conversion, but it will be important to start using the new account number once it’s assigned. We understand that your account number may be linked to a number of partners, so we will allow ample time to coordinate this change.
There are many benefits to linking now.
When you link your accounts, you’ll be able to immediately transfer miles between them. Plus, if you have a higher elite status in one program, we’ll match that status in the other program through the remainder of 2011. And we’ll combine your elite qualifying activity for both programs. If the combined total places you at a higher elite level, we’ll upgrade your status in both accounts.
